I have deleted and reposted this review due to the owner blocking me and removing all reviews from their Facebook page. Unfortunately this means that others are not able to see what Great Farm is truly like prior to booking and could experience the same thing as we did. The owner was extremely quick to take almost £1000 worth of money and was even quicker to block us once we raised concerns.
Myself and my family recently paid yourselves a visit as part of the RIAT weekend, and unfortunately, I am truly disappointed. As a family we had booked 3 separates pods which were The Nightingale Camp, The Otter Camp and The Island. We were under the impression given to us by your website that these would be in close proximity to each other. We quickly realised that this was not the case.
This weekend away was booked months in advance with a lot of money gone into it and I would truly say it was a waste of money.
Upon our arrival to The Nightingale Camp, I was truly shocked to see the state of the accommodation. As someone who is not local to the area, I found it incredibly difficult to locate this accommodation as the directions to the venue were not clear nor did they provide the information required. After 30 minutes of searching and driving around in circles, we managed to locate the unsecure park spot. We then had the task of locating the inaccessible camp which was a further 10 minutes. The paths were treacherous which therefore resulted in family members being injured due to unsteady terrain.
As we approached the camp, we soon realised that the door was left wide open and the room was full of flies. The washing up bowl was not fit for purpose as it was covered in mould and the kitchen utensils were rusty and we're clearly not safe to use. As we entered the bathroom, we were seemingly optimistic, despite the horrendous smell. Upon a closer inspection, it was evident that this was not the case. There were cobwebs on the ceiling and spiders in the bath, mould on the blind as well as mould on the toilet which had not been cleaned. As we looked closer in the cabin, there were suspicion stains on the mattress.
With this utter disappoint, we tried to remain positive and went to search for us next cabin, The Otter Camp. To find this, we went to the air show camping ground and this is when we spoke with you as we pulled in. We found that initially you were quite rude and implied that we were "lying" when we were informing you of our findings. You were however very helpful in giving us directions to find us the other 2 camps. You did state that the all the camps were in a 5-minute walking distance to each other, however this was not the case.
Your patience and calmness was appreciated during this very stressful time.
We then easily found The Otter Camp but was greeted by a thin and unsafe bridge with a "safety handle" which was made out of rope. This was not accessible for one member of our family so was again, very disappointed. This was not stated on your website. If we had known this information, we would have not originally booked due to needing a safe and accessible passage way. As some members of the family crossed the bridge, it was again evident that the paths were not fit for purpose. Once we arrived, again, the door had been left opening, allowing flies to enter and yet another bunch of cobwebs. We were however complementary of the set up but did not feel safe crossing the bridge.
We then decided to find the third and final camp, which was The Island. Here we found a much safer and sturdier bridge which was more accessible and led to a tranquil camp. Yet again, the door was left open, and we had to remove several spiders. Underneath the side tables there was evidence that they had not been cleaned for considerable time due to the sheer numbers of cob webs. We appreciate that this is a difficult place to clean, however, it was very visible as their pieces of wood missing from the sides of the benches.
We found that the bathroom was clean and thought that the shower was refreshing. As we unloaded our belongings and packed away food, we soon realised that the fridge was dirty on the outside. We struggled to turn the fridge on initially, but once we had managed this, it took time for it to cool, resulting in us having to throw away food due to hygiene reasons. We found the hot tub was lovely, once we had removed the ear wigs with a dirty net.
Out of all of the 3 camps we had booked, we believed that The Island was the cleanest, and most accessible. We decided as a family, that all of us needed to remain together, so made do with the facilities on The Island with some members having to sleep on the floor or on the outdoor hammocks, which were surprisingly comfy.
We were extremely concerned as none of the camps had locks. This meant whilst we were out at the air show, anybody could have entered our camp and taken our belongings. I appreciate it's a secluded area but with the vast number of people visiting for RIAT, locks are essential!
Due to the sleeping arrangements, we decided as family that we could cut our trip short and we left a day early, on Sunday 21st July. This was with only 1 camp being used.
We appreciate that the owner of Brook Bell is nothing to do with you, but we explained to him our decision and he was very compassionate of us. He kindly offered us accommodation for next year as a group, which we are considering.
You did in fact call us on Saturday (20th) whilst we were at RIAT so our signal was limited. We did however attempt to call you back and sent a text which we had no response back to.
Your website clearly states, that all camps will receive complementary tea, coffee, milk etc yet The Island did not receive this.
Overall, we were highly unsatisfied with our stay, this was a present for the family from previous years. This whole trip has cost a lot of money which has gone to waste as the camps were not even stayed in, except The Island. The whole trip was cut short by a day, meaning money has gone down the drain. We did enjoy certain elements of The Island, especially the scenery. The air show, most definitely made up for the highly stressful and disappointing weekend, however we feel like it is important to share our views and opinions to yourselves.
I am sad to say, that we will not be recommending people to stay at The Great Farm in the future.
You will find attached several pictures which were taken from all 3 camps.
The owner is extremely rude and upon emailing her the above following our stay, she has not resolved our issues and threatened us if we posted this. This is not glamming and the services is shocking. More than happy to take your money and then that’s it!
I have shared my concerns with the local council. As the images show, this place is not safe and is a health hazard.

Myself; my partner and Ivy our 3 legged barky rescue Patterdale Terrier have just returned from a fabulous 4 night stay at 'The Otter Camp'. It is right beside the lovely River Coln, (I had 3 'up to the belly' dips freezing but exhilarating!)
The off grid location was perfect for us very tranquil, a little bit of distant noise from farm machinery and local airfield but seeing the airforce planes take off and land was amazing, we also had a red arrows fly over which was awesome as was hearing the 'Forces Retreat' played at 5.01pm each day... National Anthems of UK and USA each day has to make you smile.
Access to the camp via the narrow bridge across the river was soon mastered, even with a three legged dog! For us the little otter oasis was rustic and a perfect place to chill - the wood-fired hot tub was amazing each night.
Leonie and the handyman were so helpful - both shepherds huts were clean, the bed mighty comfy and bedding spotless. The cooking shack was primitive but adequate for rustling up our meals, and sheltering from 2 rain showers.
Overall we chose Otter Camp for a remote location to suit our little complex pooch who has never been fully socialised in her 6 years and is hard work in progress (she and i celebrated our birthdays whilst there so it could really become an annual pilgrimage)
We all loved the local walks from the camp loads of wild flowers everywhere; we saw bats, butterflies🐛🦋, hares, bunnies, owls, grouse we heard a screech owl and saw the wren whose nest was in the kitchen and a little frog explored the bathroom steps one night 🐸 remember to take insect repellent as I got bitten by midges - only to be expected at dusk by the river.
Our only request would be a broom if possible to keep the huts swept ... but lucky for us one 'fell off' the cart when Leonie dropped off logs and ice mid-stay ...so we were happy we could leave our retreat well swept for the next guests. To sum up a lovely short break to be repeated.

This place is not even worth 1 star. The pictures on the website are misleading and any investment budget was probably spent on the website rather than the facilties. If you are reading this please do not waste your time or money. I only wish I had read the last review on here and heeded the very accurate description of this appalling place.

Hi there, I am sorry you didn't enjoy your stay with us. To anyone else reading this review, may I refer you to our goggle reviews or to the many happy reviews on our Facebook page - sadly I can't please everyone all the time and this guest stayed on an incredibly wet weekend and simply didn't enjoy it.

Definitely off the grid and secluded. There’s only one other glamping site (Otters camp) which is 100 yards away but separated by a wood. Since we’ve been, there’s another glamping site added. So now, there’s the new site, nightingale and then otters.
Nightingale is comprised of 2 carriages. One is the bedroom, lounge. The other is the bathroom (flushing toilet!). There’s an outdoor kitchen on the side of the bathroom carriage (not ideal). The area between the carriages is fully decked. There’s also an area for camp fires and BBQ. The wood fire hot tub is behind the glamping sites.
Although there are 2 other glamping sites, you still feel secluded because Nightingale is hidden under trees... surrounded by woods. Unless you’re looking for this particular glamping site, you would probably just walk past it.
Limited mobile reception (which to us is an advantage !)
Light is via solar panels.
