Thank you for your feedback and constructive criticisms. It is worth noting that our family just purchased the hotel in August of 2016. During our first year, we have extensively renovated the lobby and the Gin Mill Restaurant. We are taking this step by step. We have not even touched the rooms yet, and I can assure you we have plans to upgrade the amenities and decorate the rooms in true Victorian fashions. Our front desk staff is usually dressed stylishly and professionally. Perhaps, one of them had stepped away and one of our maintenance staff was temporarily covering for them when you walked in - still, I apologize that this did not meet your expectations. The museum is a work in progress. The previous owners had their own vision for it and took many of the items that were once displayed. We have commissioned murals to be painted on the walls, but are still working on re-imagining it. I would encourage you to visit us next year when we are further along in our renovations. Currently, we are renovating the large ballroom on the main floor and getting ready to open our second restaurant. We are moving along as fast as we can, but I am sure you understand it takes time, money and a lot of work to completely refurbish a 120 year old building.
