I have to give a shout out to this hotel. We always stay at Marriott Residence Inns because we have to get a two bedroom suite since my husbands snoring blows the roof off and I’m a light sleeper. Marriott has the nicest 2 bedroom suites. I rarely do a hotel review but I have a special reason for reviewing this specific Marriott. It was beautiful and in the heart of Amelia Island. The rooms were clean and modern. But the best was the staff. Specifically a woman named Robyn. I discovered the night we got home that I had left my medicine in the refrigerator in the room. I called the Marriott and Robyn answered the phone. I explained that I had left my meds in the fridge and would they check. She told me she would personally check the room and get back to me. She told me that because of Covid they were not renting the rooms out right away but letting each room sit for a few days. I anxiously waited for her return call because the medicine was quite expensive and needed to be refrigerated. So if someone would have moved it, like a cleaning lady, that would be trouble. She personally called me back, found my medicine, and told me she would ship it to me. I gave her a credit card number for the shipping and she overnight shipped the medicine. I had ice packs and packaging in the refrigerator and freezer but she found a box and she packed it well. How many places would go to this much trouble with so much care for their customers? I don’t think many. Thank you Robyn so much for caring and for your efficiency and time. Kudos to Marriott for this amazing employee. …
You come to expect a certain level of quality from the different brand names. I expect residence inn hotels to be very good. That is not what I got. I thought the staff was very friendly and the lobby area was nice. There is a fire pit out back and it is sort of nice. What wasn't nice, the BEDS. Average at best, The broken TV. Vertical lines on the television. Did I mention that the beds were average. Should be better with that name on the front of the hotel.
Stayed in room 312. Started having red marks on myself and kids after first night. On checkout asst. manager came up to room and saw 5 fleas dead in sink and said she would refund all points and free night award we used to stay there as manager was off. As it happens, I spoke to the manager and he decided he would not give our free night award back because he thought this was an outside problem, even though we had fleas jumping on us on the bed.
Unfriendly staff upon checking in after a long drive. Got to our room, minimal towels after requesting extra be in our room since there is no daily housekeeping due to covid. Room had old dirt and dust. Clorox wiped everything first! Soiled sofa needed to be cleaned. Towels are old and thin. Carpets stained. Shower had rust around the frame with dirt. Not what we were expecting at all. In our opinion this is below Marriott standards for sure.
I stayed at this residence inn with some friends for a weekend, beach getaway to celebrate a birthday. I have to say I was extremely disappointed by the steps staff took to clean the rooms. There was hair stuck in the corner of an elevator for all three of the days we stayed and this should have been a clue to the level of cleanliness. When we first entered our room, my friend immediately started sneezing. We requested maintenance change the filter, which ended up being filthy and he even said we made the right decision to request a clean filter. The next morning we asked for the room to be cleaned because of the filter incident and we were still sneezing. After being gone the entire day, we came back to a room that was not cleaned nor were we given new linens. And to top it off, there was a giant wet spot in the middle of the living room. Staff gave us a new room and a free bottle of wine for our troubles. I wish I could say that was the resolution to our issues. The following day housekeeping only cleaned one of the two beds in the room, after we requested our room to be serviced. The wine tasted like vinegar and we couldn’t shake the feeling that the hotel had taken zero steps to ensure a safe and clean stay. …
