Charming medieval village of the Val d'Orcia, characterized by picturesque streets and ancient walls. Definitely worth visiting the Collegiate Church, the Horti Leonini, the church of the Annunciation but above all it is nice to breathe the climate of history and culture that emanates from its ancient buildings.

Spectacular and well-kept village, but unfortunately on the difficult day that you can find open premises, in the evening it is practically all closed despite the village there is a strong coming and going of tourists. Too bad because in the evening after dinner it would be nice to have a drink walking through the village.

San Quirico d'Orcia is a charming medieval village located in the heart of Val d'Orcia, Tuscany. Known for its picturesque streets and ancient walls, the village offers historic attractions such as the Collegiate Church of San Quirico, with its splendid Romanesque portal, and the Horti Leonini, an elegant Renaissance garden. Walking through the village, you can admire historic buildings, churches and picturesque panoramic views, immersed in a landscape of rolling hills, cypresses and vineyards. A fascinating place that combines history, art and nature.

Beautiful area in the Tuscan countryside, within easy drive of all of the towns in the Val D'Orcia. Several nice small hotels, restaurants, and wineries to choose from in he town and within a 30 minute drive.

Val d'Orcia is beautiful, both for its nature and postcard landscapes and for its villages. One of these is San Quirico, an enchanting, clean place and definitely worth visiting.

Between Pienza and San Quirico D'Orcia I believe there is the best that Tuscany can offer. It's the Italian Way of Life that drives the whole world crazy, today like yesterday and less than tomorrow... very high quality of life between art, history, culture, top food and wine and hospitality like a reference, needless to say anything else, a little place from which you can't you would never go away.

I came to San Chirico D'Orcia, like many from Pienza. This is the same small town or village as Pienza. With no more than two thousand population. However, neither them nor tourists are almost visible in San Chirico. However, this town has a long history, because... in the Middle Ages it was located on the French road (via Francigena), so it received something from transit revenues. Despite its size, there are three churches in the town - the Collegiate of the 12th century, the Assumption of the Virgin Mary (Santa Maria Assunta) of the 11th century and the new San Francesco of the 19th century. Most of the 12th-century city wall has been preserved, with the exception of two gates that were destroyed during World War II. Next to the fortress wall is the Horti Leonini, a classic Italian garden of the 16th century, the uniqueness of which is that its owner Diomedes Leoni initially laid it out as a public garden, which was not at all typical for those times. Other attractions worth paying attention to are the 13th-century Santa Maria della Scala Hospital and the 17th-century Palazzo Chigi. The entire town can be explored in 1.5 hours.

Hi, I have plan to go to San Quirico d'Orcia on 30th April 2017 but it's very hard to find how can I reach there from Florence. I try to searching for the buses time schedule but not found (Actually found but don't understand Italian) Anyone please help send me buses time table or how can I go San Quirico d'Orcia would be highly appreciated.

Hi! These would be my recommendations.
I think the best idea is to rent a car. It is the easiest way to get to san quirico.
Once in san quirico, if you do not have a car, it will be almost impossible to visit any of the towns nearby. The town itself is small.....and beautiful, but you will want to visit nearby towns. A car is a must!
If not, the second best way is to take a train. In firenzi, SMN, or Santa Maria Novella, is the main train station. From there you can easily take trains all the way to buonconvento.....about ten minutes from SQ. (You would change trains in siena) From buonconvento, it could possibly be difficult to get to SQ as taxis are scarce and the bus passes by....but no one is available there to help you. You would have to know how to get the bus.
A better option is to take the train from smn to siena, where you can take a bus that will go directly to san quirico. At the train station in siena there is generally someone who can help you with a ticket for this bus....though they will probably not speak English. But if you say 'bus' and 'san quirico', you'll have a good chance of getting your ticket. Keep in mind, this booth in siena is not always manned.....so it's best to get there during the day....as opposed to 10 at night.
The buses come right to the station and stop....so you can always ask a driver.
I highly suggest downloading to your smartphone google translate....and download the Italian language so that you can translate with it while your phone is offline. This is very important!!! Within the app you can download a language directly to your phone so it will always be with you regardless of whether your cell service is on or not. This is all free!
But better yet, get a car!
Good luck!

Yes there are. The commune has nice pedal assisted bicycles. The are located in the chigi palace which is the main commune building. You can ask at the tourist office also. Other places also rent bicycles and the tourist office can guide you.

Are there bicycles to rent in San Quirico d'Oricia?

We are flying into Milan. Would like to get to San Quirico without renting a car. I know we can take a train to Siena but is there a taxi or bus service on into San Quirico?

I'm sorry, but I don't know. We had a car so it wasn't anything we looked into. Good luck, and have a nice trip.
