There are certainly bigger museums, but this one is a gem! The museum itself, is very clean and well maintained. The staff/docents were all very friendly and helpful. The information on the greater Big Horn Basin was wonderful! Displays were clean and don't look outdated like some places. Kurt, the docent for the WWI display, was phenomenal! Kurt did an excellent narrative of how WWI transpired and the displays were nicely done. There were a lot of interactive items for adults and children to enjoy. The gift store was well stocked with numerous quality items. I thoroughly enjoyed stopping by at this local gem in Wyoming!

A great interactive and informative museum. Lots of Big Horn Basin material. Cool place! There is an awesome big, big WWI exhibit up now too!

Not much in there compared to other museums I have been to sorry. I think they should add more then it would have been worth it.

Really impressed with the Museum, Clean, and neat, outstanding displays, We were so glad we went. We learned so much about the area and the culture. You really must give this museum a visit. many of exhibits are interactive. This museum is set up for all ages

Very good items from our local artist and Wyoming. Make sure to allow at least a hour. They have local artists on site for you to watch. Check out thr web site for activities.

The Washakie Museum in an amazing find. The exhibits on early mammals are chock full of fossils -- it's like being in one of the great natural history museums. The presentation of the exhibits follow two themes: (1) the fossils in their times and (2) the history of fossil hunters and paleontologists. Both lines of explanation are well explained. All sorts of visual means are used to increase the viewer's understanding. An area I particularly liked was the changing explanations paleontologists have come up with over time. The selection of books in the gift shop is exceptional, too. I also enjoyed the part of the museum dedicated to the history of settlement.

If you are searching for a bit of history about Washakie county and Wolrand WY. this is a great place to find it. There is something for everyone. The museum offers some archaeology, and is filled with historical artifacts that have connections to Worland. The museum os affordable and comfortable. It is no too large and so even seniors might enjoy a walk throug the museum.

This is one of the best museum I've ever been in. Such good displays, pictures and interpretations covering a variety of Wyoming era's from prehistoric fossils and artifacts, the Medicine wheel to the Wild West and railroads. Should come a few times to take it all in.

For such a small town, this is a great museum that focuses on two specific themes: paleontology and settlement of the region. Both have very good displays.
When we went, there were two temporary exhibits: ghost towns of wyoming and silk screen tipis of the Blackfeet.
There was also some art from a local artist!
Really worth the $8/person fee.

Really enjoyed visiting this center, professionally done and lots of interesting readings, memorabilia of the areas past. If you like museums, history, local culture....this is the place to go.
