‪We stayed there for the evening camping in the fields. The views from the top of the ridge were absolutely stunning and you could really spread out to be far away from everyone else. The porta potties on sight were very clean. I would say the road to get up there is pretty difficult you need a vehicle with some clearance however it did rain a couple days before causing divots that were really pretty bad.

After a night of camping we woke up to a gorgeous sun rise and did the 2 hour 9 am horse back ride! We rode with Stewart who was great! We loved talking and hearing up his upbringing and all of his passions. He was so kind and the horses were great! I would highly recommend, there were gorgeous overlooks too to take photos at!‬

‪What an excellent place to stay while in the Zion area! The booking process was very easy and once we arrived it was simple to find a site we liked and pitch camp. As other reviewers have noted, this is primitive camping so bring water, food, ice, and firewood. Portable toilets are plopped around the ranch so you should place yourself strategically where the toilets are close enough (but not too close!).

It's quite hot during the day (upwards of 105F), but the evenings are lovely and comfortable by 7/8pm. Wind speeds can cause an uptick in the dust around you which at times is uncomfortable - but you're in the desert after all! Just be sure you're tent is secure and tightly enclosed so no dust can get in when you're out during the day.

You will hear some critters at night (coyote, ground squirrels, etc.) and they know that we bring food so make sure at night and when you go out for the day that all your supplies (with the exception of tents, awnings, and other structures) are secured in your vehicle/reliable storage container.

I came from the southwest so it was best for us to stop in Hurricane for last minute supplies (there is a Walmart and gas station there). However if you're headed into Zion and find yourself low on supplies you can head to Springdale which has plenty of shops.

This ranch is an awesome option if you're into desert style camping. Beautiful views all around you!‬

‪*****DO NOT STAY HERE. LOUD OBNOXIOUS NIGHT CLUB ALLOWED ON CAMPGROUD FOR 6 NIGHTS DURING OUR OCTOBER STAY. OWNERS HAVE NO REGARD FOR COMFORT OF CAMPERS.*****

There are absolutely beautiful views from the campground. That is the only positive thing I have to say about our stay at Zion Wright Family Ranch campground.

We stayed 10/22/2020 and 10/23/2020. (We had booked 10/24/2020 but couldn't bear another night.) We were miserable both nights of our stay. The Wrights apparently have no standard campground policy. And even if they did, there is no onsite host to enforce a policy.

Night 1
***There was a large group of people on an adjacent site who talked loudly until past 1 a.m. At midnight we'd had enough and got up to ask them to call it a night. They responded by saying that we picked the site next to them, so it was our fault.
***The Wright's knowingly booked a large group during our stay who erected a night club on the campground, and didn't bother to inform other campers at the time of booking that a loud, obnoxious night club would also be on the campground. They blasted loud techno music until 2:00 a.m. The crowd was screaming. We couldn't sleep.

Night 2
***I informed a Wright staff member who rode through at dusk that the night club had played loud, obnoxious techno music the night before until 2 a.m., and that we had heard that another camper had called the sheriff to intervene. The staffer assured me that the night club would not be playing the music loudly again. I explained that they would turn the music up as soon as he had left the campground.
***Again the night club blasted their loud, obnoxious techno music as soon as the Wright staffers had left the campground. Even with ear plugs we were unable to sleep.
***At 2 a.m. we saw the lights of the sheriff's truck approaching. We went out to speak with him. The music was shut off, but the night club's flashing lights and loud generator remained on. As we guessed, as soon as the sheriff left the campground, the loud, obnoxious techno music went back on. UNTIL 4 a.m.!

I spoke today to Megan Wright, who manages the campground, via phone about our experience. (I called the owner several times, but am always directed to voicemail without the option to leave a message.) She confirmed that they have no policy, and didn't seem to care that other campers had been negatively impacted by the loud noise. We will NEVER return. Steer clear.‬

‪This is a beautiful location but it’s midnight and I’m awake because one large group of campers is playing techno music that I can hear despite earplugs. I spoke to management earlier and the response? “The quiet ones like it quiet and the loud ones like it loud”. While I agree that everyone shouldn’t be required to keep quiet for my sake it should be reasonable. I requested a refund of the reminding two nights and won’t EVER be returning to this campground again. You would be better off on BLM land vs paying 29$ a night for a port-o-potty and a primitive campsite.‬

‪The Wright Family Ranch camping was amazing! So many spots to choose from with first come, first served site selection. Premade fire pits, port-a-potties, and BEAUTIFUL views. The ranch is quiet and allows for a great sleep after a long day hiking. Bill and Slade were also great hosts. We messed up reserving our sites and they were very accommodating and helpful! Would definitely recommend and stay again!

Definitely sign up for the horseback riding with the Wrights! You get a two hour tour of the property that you wouldn’t otherwise be able to see. Amazing views and you get to learn about the history of the family/land.

‪If you’re used to primitive camping, definitely stay at this hidden gem! They do have porta-potties, but bring your own toilet paper. We were driving in a compact car and made it okay (not sure it would’ve worked out if the road were anything but dry). Be sure to bring all your supplies as the closest store is about 40 minutes away.‬

‪TLDR: beautiful secluded campsite. We got caught in an epic sandstorm that led us to break down/abandon our tent at 1:30am, while choking on dust and being blinded by sand, ending up sleeping in our (very compact) rental car.

We came in the fall, so we were able to get here in our rental car (compact Ford Fiesta) because the ground was not muddy. The road was steep, but pretty wide and well maintained (many potholes, but we could drive, very slowly, around them).

As previous reviews mentioned, the porta potties were exceptionally clean.

The view from our tent was epic and I got some awesome pictures.

Now for the not so great. The ranch is located near Hurricane Mesa and Smith Mesa. It lived up the the hurricane name. We set up our tent and camp and then noticed the wind. We tried to park our car (as it was getting dark) to block the occasional wind gusts from hitting our tent. It seemed okay and after dinner we crawled into the tent. It was a bit windy initially, but seemed manageable. At some point, the wind died down completely and we had a (false) sense of relief. Then, around 1:30am, we woke up to what I can only describe as gale force winds blasting our tent and sending massive clouds of sand and dust into our tent. We were worried the tent would be ripped apart or the poles would break and were clinging to the apex of the text to hold it down. All the while, we were literally choking on sand and having to keep our eyes closed from the sand. After a bit of this, where we vainly clung to the hope that it would die down again, we gave up and decided to abandon ship. We got out of the tent, holding our shirts over our faces and collapsed the tent poles, all while putting multiple rocks on the tent fabric to pin it to the ground. Once it was fully flat and weighed down with rocks and firewood, we reconvened to our (very compact) car to attempt to sleep. Needless to say, we only stayed one of the three nights we booked, to save our tent and our eyes/nostrils from another massive dust storm.

So, don’t be like us! If you choose to stay here, maybe don’t come at the driest time of the year, or find a spot that is protected by shrubs or small trees (we did not pick the best camping spot because we were a bit scared to drive too far in, due to the roads being a little sketchier on the ranch property). Or, maybe accept that it may be a bit tough to tent camp here.‬

‪Such a hidden gem in Zion! We camped one night on the ranch - it was really fun to find our own camping spot and the views are incredible anywhere on the property. Camping facilities are primitive (just a portapotty), so make sure to bring everything with you. Best part: the Evening Horseback ride. Definitely worth the money. The grounds of the ranch have some of the best views of Zion, and riding through fields of sunflowers during sunset was truly in unforgettable experience. Definitely recommended!‬
