‪Met Miss Gwen years ago when I was working in Plano and came upon this gem by accident. I go as frequently as I can. Miss Gwen is my source for Fresh Lefse and Lingonberry jam!! She offers classes, good conversation and plenty of Scandinavian goodies. Love this place!‬

‪Wonderful Scandinavian shop‬

‪Adorable house that has been here for many decades. It has amazing treasure, chocolate and classes to attend. I highly recommend.‬

‪Could spend all day here. Wow. We homeschool & our daughter has friends from everywhere. One whose in Finland actually found this place & suggested it. We weren't disappointed. So much to look at & explore. We are already looking forward to our next trip.‬

‪Interesting hous‬

‪Cozy house with Scandinavian food and things. The service was good and it was interesting stuff there. Was in Dallas for vacation and have to go and visit so now I know they have Norwegian bakery ingredients so i can make Norwegian food when I am there.‬

‪Gwen & her Scandinavian shop are amazing‬

‪The Scandinavian shop is in an old house on K Street just north of Old Downtown Plano on 15th Street. They sell all things Scandinavian. Each room in the house is filled with food items, candy, clothing, decorations and other hard-to-find items.

My wife's family has a strong Norwegian lineage with her grandmother coming from Norway. Her extended family grew up with lutefisk, swedish meatballs, lefse, coca and more. We've found stores like this in Minnesota and Iowa which have a heavy Scandinavian population, but finding the Wooden Spoon so far south is wonderful.

If the shop is not the reason to visit, then Gwen is. I love talking to her. She is like everyone's grandmother. She's caring, helpful and genuine. We make our own Lefse, but from time to time we buy Gwen's homemade lefse. She has classes around Thanksgiving and Christmas where she teaches people to make lefse. We have not attended, but we definitely swapped secrets.

We love this shop! If Grandma Selma were alive, she'd love it too.‬

‪Great Scandinavian store near downtown Plano!!!‬

‪The Wooden Spoon is a wonderful local store that has all sorts of Norwegian, Finnish and Swedish items for sale. I found this store after driving down K ave and had been planning a trip to Norway earlier in the year. I stopped inside and was taken up to one of the Norwegian lessons upstairs to see if I'd be interested in it. I signed up after that one lesson as it was very easy and convenient. The shop downstairs also has all sorts of food items including brunost and fiskekaker, along with cloudberry jam and lingonberries. A+ for anyone looking to try something different or if you're homesick, the best place to stop without having to order things online.‬

‪Wooden Spoon, a Scandanavian Surprise in Plano, TX‬

‪I don't yet know how the Wooden Spoon found its place in Plano, Texas, but I'm glad it did. Located in a pretty Victorian home near the 15th Street shopping area, the Wooden Spoon provides a surprisingly extensive introduction to Swedish, Norwegian and Finish culture. You'll find here a fairly wide selection of Scandanavian foods and arts/crafts. Among other items, you'll find a great collection of dalahasten, crystal work, and textiles. At certain times of the year, you can also take language lessons or rosemaling lessons. Where else can you find this! If you have any interest in Scandanavian culture, pay a visit to the Wooden Spoon.‬

‪If you're spending an afternoon in downtown Plano, be sure to add this shop to the list of places you visit. Having traveled to Sweden, Denmark and Iceland, it was fun checking out the Scandinavian goodies and gifts and meeting the shop owner.‬

‪As a Norwegian it was definetly fun to visit this place. The shop has a lot of Scandinavian products. Service was exellent. We'll be back the next time we visit Plano!‬

‪Since I am Norwegian I have to visit Woden Spoon when I am in Dallas. Great place for Scandinavian Christmas items and remember to buy Solo soda and Norwegian chocolate, the best chocolate in the world.‬
