Awesome stop for social media. The video I made did very well on Instagram. I also shot a bunch of still photos to use on other social media platforms.

The people who rated this low were apparently expecting something more. I'm one of those people who like to drive out of my way to see the cool things that people make. Instead of being "normal", this guy has brought joy to people who like unusual stops. It is free to stop and get pictures. I didn't see any way to go inside and personally, I wouldn't feel safe doing it.

I drove about twenty miles out of my way to have the kids see what I thought was going to be something nice to see. It was more of a junk yard that was being called a UFO welcome center. If Aliens landed and saw this, they would think we were a race of savages. It was nice for a quick laugh but not go out of your way worthy. Don't waste your time unless you have time to waste.

We usually go to the renaissance festivals but decided to take in this UFO encounter instead. It is our recommendation not to travel more than 5 miles out of your way to see it. It is definitely a quirky site to see. It a precariously balanced heap of rubble, however one of our favorite martians dared to climb to the top, risking potential damage to limbs! The place is full of garbage, inside and outside of the "UFO". I would not call this a welcome center but more of a strange curiosity. If you pass take a selfie, if you don't, keep driving! Maybe Mr. Jody can arrange a clean day, it would improve the experience for everyone!

It sounded good on paper but it’s falling apart and full of graffiti. This is not a welcome center anyone, alien or not, would be impressed about.
We needed to kill time on road before checking into our hotel and it did give my kids a quick laugh. On the whole though, “not worth going 5 miles off the highway.”

I had originally visited Jody 5 years ago. He gave me a tour of his saucers and told me a little bit about his life (running for mayor as "UFO Man") and his thoughts on ETs (what happened between them is private). I came back recently to see what had changed, but unfortunately Jody was not around. In 5 years, it looks like he has made this a self tour attraction and I guess his popularity has increased some with two other visitors while I was there. The one other visitor asked if I worked there and I just laughed. "No one works here. There's a loopy guy that lives in the trailer in the back, but he's not home." I'm not sure if people think this is a legit attraction or not, but it is one man's personal treasure. The UFOs look worse than they did 5 years ago, and that's saying a lot given their original condition. You can climb all the way to the top if you dare. It's questionably dangerous, but in reality you're more in danger of getting a splinter than the heap falling down on you. Jody has a sign asking for a $20 donation. You don't have to do that, but a couple bucks probably helps him out some. This is a fun time with or without Jody being present. If you've met Jody though, you know that he is what makes this a 5 star experience. Without him, it's a pretty fun curiosity still.

We had a trip to Europe planned but due to Coronavirus we had to shift gears. Should we go to a beach resort? Four Seasons? We made the right choice and spent a full week at the UFO welcome center. What an amazing time. And you thought it looked cool during the day? Grab a flashlight and go in at night. Maybe even spot a UFO looking down on it. This place is legendary

This is someone’s personal trash project. The town highlight is Oscar’s trash can.

You know that's funny because most people don't get it. To go right, you must tilt left in a UFO.
The attraction is going to see something that stands behind a scruffy looking gas station, just off the main drag in Bowman, SC. Built in 1994, it is a collection of scraps of everything you can imagine, that put together look like a flyhing saucer. It's 42 feet wide and about 2 1/2 stories tall. You can't miss it. The builder/owner lives next door and on a good day you can get him to give you a tour. The entry fee is $1.If you can't afford a dollar, just drive by, stop and take a photo in front of it. This is the ONLY UFO WELCOME CENTER IN THE COUNTRY, MAYBE EVEN IN THE WORLD. When the aliens do come, this will be their first stop.

So we saw the billboard on the side of the highway and thought, why not? Turns out it was in a person’s backyard and not a “legit” business. Must’ve taken a lot of time and effort to create, but based on earlier photos, has not been kept up. Jody was friendly and encouraged us to explore the inside of the structure and sign the guest book. It was not what one would call structurally sound. Good for a laugh, but wouldn’t return.
