This is an absolutely delightful, clean, safe, family-friendly beach. Although shingle at the top, low tide reveals a broad swathe of soft, golden sand. There is plenty to explore too: The stump of the old pier (once very much longer); the long, long row of brightly-painted beach huts and the breakwaters all add interest. Out to sea is the sad sight of what was once the end of the Victorian pier. Take binoculars! Generally, parking is easy - and free!

We know this beach well as we live nearby and love it for its simplicity and solitude. Excellent swimming except at low tide. Miles of beach so easy to find a spot away from others. I don't know how this will be affected by the arrival of the new beach huts; I guess it will be busier. Toilets are at the King's Hall where you can also get coffee and ice cream but, the further you walk from the town the quieter and more natural it becomes. Definitely worth walking up to the top of the Downs for a different view. It is about an hour's walk to Reculver where you can get a coffee at Hat Hats or a drink in the pub then walk back again.

We passed the East Cliff beach whilst walking a section of the Saxon Shore way between Herne Bay and Reculver. The shingle beach is quieter than the one by the pier and is ideal for the visitor wishing to avoid the crowds. The area has some things of interest to recommend it such as an attractive terrace of colourful Georgian houses on the promenade and situated on a grassy bank the statue of Barnes Wallis looking out to the estuary. The Kings Hall exhibition centre may also be found in this area. Looking to the east, it is possible to make out the twin towers of the ruins of the church at Reculver.

The beach is situated a short walk from the main promenade, well worth it if you’re looking for somewhere to live a quieter to either sit or chill. On the day I went see was just so calm with little or no waves, and that added to the tranquillity they chicken bring. The only thing to be aware of is there is little in the way of facilities either toilets, cafés, or anything else, so it is very much at making and taking your own entertainment

A quieter beach than Herne Bay's central beach but it is shingle rather than sand. Being shingle, it's not so easy for pushchair and wheelchair users but there is a level paved promenade behind. There's a pay and display car park at the harbour end of the town but it's quite expensive (£1.70 an hour in summer). If you want to you can stroll quite a long way towards Reculver Towers (which you can see in the distance).

This promenade , with its good "discovery boards " is a quiet bonus when visiting the town, stroll for a mile or so towards the Reculver Towers and just enjoy the sea and sounds, perhaps , like many others , take one of the paths up to to the top of the green areas and return at a higher level.

It's quieter and much nicer than the other end of the beach.
This is a great spot to look for shark teeth and fossils.

Nice area to walk on a sunny day. Good views of Herne Bay pier and the sea side. There are amusements in this area and places to rest.
