A huge disappointment. (The book was so much better than the play! ) Several glaring casting mistakes. The music seemed extraneous. The performance was not lucid. If Pericles doesn't improve on this, we won't resubscribe after many years of loyalty. I really miss Barbara Gaines! Bring back true artistry, creativity, and clarity!

Went to the Lord of the Rings Play here in celebration of my daughter's 21st birthday. She is a big Lord of the Rings fan and she really had a great time! Before the show they even had specialty drinks with LOTR names. It was so cute! The play, acting and performance were all top notch and very entertaining. We had seats A19 and A20 and the views were perfect. The cast was engaging and fun! The dancing was also breathtaking! A truly amazing time!

First, the great. My husband and I went to see The Enigmatist, a fantastically fun and immersive experience. If you enjoy puzzles, history, and/or magic, I highly recommend the show (Summer 2024). The on-site staff were friendly and helpful. The venue was easily wheelchair accessible and, since I opted to transfer to a venue seat, they were able to store my electric chair during the show. I cannot speak to the restrooms as I did not make use of them.
Now, the not so great. The online ticketing system is antiquated. ADA ticket requests cannot be made through their website. You are supposed to call the box office, but good luck finding where the hours are posted. The customer service portal is just a form with the promise that staff will get back to you "as soon as we are able." They do not differentiate between high and low cabaret table seating when ordering tickets, which is an important distinction when considering mobility issues. Please, please update your practices.

Jason Alexander did a great job--along with the rest of the cast. The pace was quick; the message was good; and the experience was a lot of fun: highly recommended.

I have long maintained that I am not a Shakespeare fan, but several friends told me a production of Twelfth Night here was not to be missed and I am SO glad I listened. This is a beautiful, spacious venue, and their adaptation, set in the Caribbean, maintains the most fun I've had at a Shakespeare performance. The company members KNOW Shakespeare, so the language doesn't feel clunky or awkward, and the design is stunning. Of course, they present more than Shakespeare here, but whatever they're doing - just go!

We've had multiple frustrating experiences with the box office and won't be back. Highly recommend others avoid this theater if they want to avoid being ripped off.
For one ticket purchase, my wife explicitly requested tickets for the 7pm performance of Illinoise. The ticket agent confirmed this choice multiple times; however, upon reviewing the tickets the night before the show, we discovered an error. We were mistakenly booked for the 2pm show, which we were unable to attend due to our travel schedule until late afternoon.
Attempts to rectify the situation by reaching out to the box office were unsuccessful, as their availability is limited to a few hours during the week. Additionally, our Bard card, purchased during a previous Christmas, presented another challenge. Despite initially resolving a malfunction by phone with the box office and being assured of the card's flexibility for future bookings, we were later informed that it was no longer valid when we attempted to use it for a new show.
These issues have not only caused considerable inconvenience but also resulted in a financial loss of several hundred dollars. The box office is almost impossible to get ahold off (even their online messaging platform doesn't work/won't submit) and they apparently don't care about honoring commitments once they have your money.

I’m a chicago newbie, a NYC transplant and resolved not to buy any theatre subscription( one play is excellent, one terrible , one meh , and one can’t go and no one wants my freebie ticket) but I fell for the hot lineup at Shakespeare theatre.
I am so glad I did. Loved Notebook and its music, was so very familiar with Measure for Measure and thought it well done and enjoyable ( people sitting next to me knew nothing in advance and were confused and disappointed). I’m a Bronte fan and can’t wait for Wuthering heights. Reviews from London and NY were brilliant and I think Shakespeare theatre will do the same production.

The theatre itself was intimate and comfortable. Really don't think there was a bad seat in the house. We got to see their production of the brand new musical, "The Notebook". It was EXCELLENT!

It Came From Outer Space - outstanding play, the actors were very impressive, the set was a great job of improvising. It was a lot of fun and I think most, if not all, of the audience enjoyed it.
The only reason I gave four stars instead of five was the website for booking seats at the Upper Theater. They show a normal theater design with a center and two side aisles. But they don't tell you that the side aisles are not accessible, they are blocked off. So when I booked seats F1&2 I thought naturally we had an aisle and easy access. But no - we were 14 seats down the row. I would have not bought these tickets if they told me this. It would be easy to fix this on their website.

I took my family here at Christmastime to see the Q Brothers performance of "A Christmas Carol" and everyone had such a fun time! I am looking forward to visiting again soon and bringing the family!

I have one second row ticket to Six on Tuesday, June 25 to sell for face value. Does anyone know of a good way to do that? I hate to have such a prime seat go empty. Row B, seat 18

Sight lines are good pretty much anywhere. Just know that there is no center aisle in center sections. Sat in dress circle for Hamlet and really happy to have seats close to the end of the row. A bit of a trek over other guests for those sitting in center of row. I’m sure the view from center was amazing but not an easy in and out.

Hello Vanessa, great question! The Theater has no formal dress code—so wear whatever makes you most comfortable. Some audience members dress up (dresses, heels, etc), but you're just as likely to see people wearing jeans. On weeknights, many attendees come from work so business casual attire is common.
