This place is located at the bottom of the Fort Griswold hill. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and engaged us all. Was very good for my son who is often overlooked. Well worth the trip down the hill.

Ye Ebenezer, I'm told he was one hell of a great guy...….
There is some history here and the house is well restored.
Unfortunately, the garden in front of the house smells like the cats use it to do their business.

While walking throughout Fort Griswold, we came upon the beautifully restored Avery House at the lower edge of the park. Although closed when we visited, a placard indicated that this house was originally built a couple of blocks away and was moved to the Fort Griswold site and preserved. The house served as a refuge for the many wounded after the battle and massacre at Fort Griswold. We are indebted to the great sacrifices made by all who have served our nation. Will definitely return when it is open. Recommend a visit for history buffs.

This house was moved from it's original location but still housed wounded during the battles of New London and Ft Griswold. We didn't expect to find this house, it is on the grounds of Ft Griswold, down the hill across from the storage sheds.

This historical home became a makeshift hospital during the Revolutionary War when the British attacked Groton and New London, CT. It was moved to it's current site, two blocks from it's original location, in 1971 and restoration efforts have successfully refurbished and and restored it. The house is now on the property of the Fort Griswold Battlefield State Park.The Park is located in a very scenic area. There are free tours and school tours if requested and a "Traveling Trunk"which is freely lent and comes with lesson plans, artifacts and documents for students.
This is a nice daytrip in an area filled with interesting places to visit.
