Leuk kerkje. Als je in Luderitz bent en je hebt tijd over, dan is een bezoekje aan te raden, maar zeker ook geen must. Grappig, die Duitse gebouwen in Namibië

The Felsenkirche (church of rock) was build for the German/evangelical Lutheran congregation between 1911 and 1912.
The side windows was donated by members of the aristocracy in Germany.
In 1978 the church was classed as national monument. Well maintained church. Not able to visit inside (closed)

Staat hoog boven op een rots in het stadje Luderitz. Mooi uitzicht over de oceaan en het stadje. Erg krap boven, je kunt er praktisch niet parkeren.

Found some photos of my mother from 1955 - oh wow! None of us expected that! We were aiming at a trip down memory lane where my mother was confirmed but did not expect photos in the relic collection.
The stain glass windows were beautiful; the colors clear and bright esp in the late afternoon sunlight. The pews are well kept and I pray that they will be used more often.
When in Lüderitz; the Felsenkirche is worth a visit.

This Lutheran Church was located at the pinnacle of the town and clearly where the early Germans/perhaps Boers attended. It is beautiful and the view from the church is stunning. If you are in Luderitz it is an easy walk though up a steep hill.

Die Felsenkirche überragt das Stadtzentrum und ist ein herrlicher Platz für den Sonnenuntergang über der Großen Bucht (sehr windig!). Die Kirche ist meist versperrt.

The windows of this church can not be done justice with pictures! It is absolutely amazing! The lady who assisted us with entrance was so friendly and helpful!

Felsenkirche Evangelical Lutheran did have a Sunday service on my visit last year. I did notice another church building in Lüderitz and a Google search has a web page for the RC there.
