Obwohl unser Besuch am 15.8. erfolgte, waren wir die einzigen Fremden, die diesen Ort besuchten. Die große Zahl an Gläubigen war aber erkennbar erfreut, dass wir ihre Kirche besuchten. Der sehr freundliche Abt führte uns anschließend noch durch die Anlage und gab uns zahlreiche Erklärungen. Wir waren sehr dankbar für diese Ausführungen, denn wir haben – auch bis heute – keine Erläuterungen zum Mânăstirea Dobrovăț gefunden.
Der Aufbau des Heiligtums, seine interne Schachtelung von Räumlichkeiten bis hin zum Allerheiligsten – auch dessen Beleuchtung - weckte bei uns Assoziationen mit einer Struktur, wie sie dem Garbhagriha, der Kultzelle der südindischen Vimāna-Tempel zugrunde liegt.
Das Schmuckstück liegt 35km südlich von Iași – aber leider etwas abseits von der Hauptstraße. Hier endet dann sogar die ausgebaute DJ 247 und man muss ein Stück zurückfahren (14km), wenn man weiter nach Süden (Vaslui) möchte.
Aber vielleicht ist diese abseitige Lage ein Teil des Grundes dafür, dass man hier ein wirklich sehr ursprüngliches, ausgezeichnete Fresken besitzendes Sanctuarium findet.
Den Tip zur Besichtigung dieses außergewöhnlichen Klosters hatten wir auf der Touri-Info in Iași erhalten.

An orthodox monastery founded in 1504 by one of the most important figures in the Romanian history (Stephen the Great, ruler and saint of the Romanian Orthodox church). There are four historical items on place – the original church, a newer one (founded on 1607), the bells tower and the surrounding stone fencing.
When visited, the entire place seemed deserted, there was nobody there, except some tourists. The churches were locked so I couldn’t see anything inside. However, the old church is a beautiful example of Moldavian/Romanian orthodox church and the entire place was well maintained, peaceful and serene.
The bells tower door wasn’t locked and we were able to enter and climb the very narrow stairs. It’s a very interesting building, with several rooms and, on the top one, there are two bells.
The Dobrovat Monastery is located at 25 km from Iasi city and the road is scenic and in good condition. I think it is definitely worth a visit.

This is a Romanian Orthodox monastery located in Dobrovăț-Ruși, Iaşi County, Romania. The monastery is listed in the National Register of Historic Monuments.
Located 25 km (16 mi) southeast of the city of Iaşi, the monastery, dedicated to the Holy Spirit, is the last holy founding that Stephen the Great, the Voivode of Moldavia, erected during his reign. It was completed in 1504 by Bogdan III, son of Stephen. The paintings inside the church of the monastic complex were executed during the reign of Petru Rareș Voivode, another son of Stephen the Great, between 1527 and 1530
