Библиотека была основана в 1946г и является старейшей в Малави. Находится на втором этаже здания. Ее фонд составляет порядка 3000 книг.

We visited the Mangers House Manadala in Blantyre again having been here 9 years ago. The wonderful place has continued to remain spectacular. The house is a monument to the early European traders and is two stories and in excellent condition situated in a quieter part of the town. The house has an amazing restaurant with very high quality drinks and food opening out into well kept gardens. On the ground floor are high quality works of art including carvings and paintings, many of which can be purchased. The real gem however is the Society of Malawi's Library upstairs. Make sure you ask for directions upstairs. We were welcomed by the curator and librarian who's enthusiasm and knowledge were wonderful. They have the largest and probably most complete collection of archival literature on colonial Malawi (better than Rhodes House Oxford), but if you wish to have access to the rarer papers, it is best to ask ahead of time so they can get the appropriate files out. They also have a good collection of Malawian stamps which they don't advertise but can be viewed if request.
Well worth a visit for an hour or afternoon depending on your time and interest in the history of the country

Spend some time to listen to the gentleman trying to keep this place afloat. Fascinating place. Wanted to spend an afternoon but did not have enough time. A piece of history in a country where most historic objects were looted by eh colonizing European power.

The Society of Malawi library and archives contain a wealth of historical and scientific data on Malawi. The digital photographic collection is particularly rich. The staff are also extremely helpful.

It is somewhere that I wanted to visit but was disappointed. I thought it would be historical but is more of an overpriced gift shop. Still worth a viit.

Worth a visit for the interested and those looking up info. Books are not the most up to date but perfect for history, local natural sciences and for reference, as well as a mooch at some beautiful pieces!

Housed in a colonial period elegant home, we were delighted with the vast library collection, the artifacts relating to the European settlements in Malawi and our guide's gentle instruction. There is a nice gift shop as well.

A nice library in a beautiful building. Lots of interesting books especially those about David Livingstone. A nice place to stop by for a quick visit.

It's a popular place for lunch with good food and helpful staff. The library is also interesting to hang out in and read books published in the 1800s. I spent a rainy afternoon here and enjoyed it.
