Small place with many species and types of birds that were really fascinating.
Did you know that birds could be trained as well as dogs do? Visit the falconry of Kenya to experience this....Birds perched on my arm, A specific one saluted by opening up her wing above my head, the harrier bird that is always ready to pose for a photo with you and the beautiful Paullina(an owl) with her natural make-up. She had a natural pink eye shadow that looked good on her.
I will skip any review on snakes for now because I passed this session and not because they were not there...
My highlight was climaxed by the 129 year old tortoise and how calm she was when taking photos with her.

This is a must if you're in Malindi. You can even touch/hold the non-poisonous snakes and I had several birds perched on my arm (the owl looked at me very intently), I was skeptical at first but it was very safe. I loved it!

This is a smaller falconry by some standards, but never the less they have a fair number of birds of prey. They even let you hold them on your arm, which is pretty cool. The guides are informative and casual. They also have a 120 yr old tortoise you can feed and pet. Then they also have maybe ten different snakes, of which you can also handle the non poisonous. It was well worth it.

Le site mériterait un meilleur entretien (déchets dans le parc), la visite est très intéressante mais le guide est insistant pour prendre beaucoup de photos avec les animaux. Néanmoins à faire.

Lots of big birds and you get a chance to be photographed with an eagle and some owls and maybe a snake if you fancy it.

We could go to the falconry without registration and were shown around by Samson. He showed us every single animal and explained some basic characteristics about each one. I was allowed to hold a small snake and the big Seychelles tortoise really enjoyed it when I scratched its neck. They also have poisonous snakes, Nile crocodiles and quite a few birds of prey. Some birds of prey are tame, so you can pet them or hold them in your hand. This is a great experience.
The falconry serves as a rescue center, they also take in injured animals and release animals back into the wild. I recommend this to any animal lover looking for a special experience: where can you get so close to a bird of prey. In my opinion, a small, not very touristy jewel in Malindi that you should visit and thereby support.

Although small in size, it hosts various animals. The guides are knowledgeable and explain in details. I also love the fact that you get to interact with the animals, especially the feeding of birds and holding of the snakes.
Amazing place worth a visit.

As fierce animal-lovers we were somewhat apprehensive about the conditions at the park... which takes in and rehabilitates injured birds of prey for release back into the wild. However though the facility is quite rustic we could see our guide Samson was very knowledgeable on the birds and seemed to really care for the animals too. It was AMAZING to get up and close with massive birds such as eagles, owls and a juvenile vulture (as I doubt you would have an opportunity any other time). Yes the birds are tethered to a perch but as the guide explained, they are more susceptible to injury by being in a small cage (as they will attempt to fly) and they are released twice daily for a free flight. We got to experience the free-flight of a juvenile vulture and it was so amazing as we got to catch and release the massive bird ourselves. There are also some snakes and a massive tortoise!

The place has crocodiles, tortoises, terrapins, birds (mostly owls and falcons) and snakes(which I stayed away from ).
Our guide was quite the orator and very passionate and informative about all the animals they had.Although the birds are kept in cages they have ample space to move around and the guide explained that most are rescues.
I had an amazing experience and still can’t believe I petted an owl and had a vulture and fish eagle perched in my arm & stayed calm.
Hopefully when I visit next, I’ll be confident enough to do te snake tour and hold one as well.
We had a fantastic time and this is a must visit when in Malindi, it’s just a walking distance from Oasis Mall in town or stardust.

I thought this was going to be a really sad place; zoos in developing nations are usually poorly kept and cramped for the animals. However, I was very pleasantly surprised. The place had snakes, a giant tortoise and crocodiles; as well as birds, mostly hawks and owls. Although the cages were small they weren't cramped and the birds are allowed to "free fly". Our guide took us around and explained that this (private) zoo bred the birds and then released them into the wild. Some of the birds have been injured and can't be released back into the wild. A wonderful place and a MUST visit in Malindi. Why isn't this place in the Lonely Planet guide to Kenya?
