Having read reports on Trip Advisor we asked for Patrick. Shadrack met us to deal with the formalities and told us we would have Patrick. We met Patrick a couple of days later and headed for Tsavo in a Toyotal jeep type vehicle.
Patricks objective seemed to be to get us in and out of the parks as quickly as possible. We did not have a chance to spot many anuimals due to his driving at racing speeds on the tracks in the parks. There is a 30kph speed limit but observation of the speedo showed Patrick normally driving at 60-70kph. We asked him to slow down but this had little effect. On the last day he drove out of the park so quickly that we arrived at the lunch stop an hour before they opened and had to wait, we would have loved to have spent this extra time in the park but Patrick told us because the roads are bad i have to drive fast, I thought the opposite was true. He also took us to the Masai village to avoid spending time in the park, he was not happy when we refused to pay the £40 entrance fee and said we would wait till he was ready to go.(entrance fee in Diani was £3.00.
I can only assume that Glorius Safaris have more than one Patrick. If racing on dirt tracks is what you want then go to Glorius but if you want to spot animals and wildlike then another operator would be better suited.
We did another Safari with another operator and this was totally different with the driver taking things slowly so we could see the animals.
