Visitare questo forte è obbligatorio se sei a LAMÙ, viaggio lungo in barca del popolo locale, bellissimo e scomodo.
Fantastico il vecchio forte con i suo cannoni, il guardiano gentile.

You need to take a boat to reach this fort. Some parts of the fort are restored. This fort is awesome.

please please please remove the iron fence which is almost suffocating the fort. it makes taking good photos almost impossible

for a copy of a real Arab/ Yemeny fort it is extremely well done...when walking on the beach you will pass this "monument"

Es el único monumento propiamente dicho. Es una buena forma de ver Lamu desde arriba, subido a sus almenas

Es una visita que tenemos que hacer si estamos en Lamu town, así entenderemos un poco más a toda su población. Es muy peque´ño, no te llevará mucho tiempo.

We took the local boat from early morning 6 am and took about 2.5 hours, a bit uncomfortable with all goods for market there, but it is nice if you want to experience the daily life there. This boat is coming back the next morning, but there are chances to get other boats in the afternoon if you ask people around when you arrive at the harbour. We luckily met Mohamed (712851062), a boda/motorcycle guy, then took us to visit Pate and Siyu villages, then having lunch with his family and coconut in his dad's big garden. We like the Pate village as it remains in a nice conditions of all houses made from Coral stone, and definitely not touristic. We joined a boat carrying students in the afternoon at 2 pm. I would recommend him if you want the backpacker style.

Siyu being off and away from the main lamu island becomes a bit of a challenge to go there if you are on a Budget, the museum can arrangements with the hotels to take people for day trips to siyu and other historical sites that are under them

Bezoekje waard ,fort is goed onderhouden maar laat verder weinig zien van het verleden . Uitzicht vanaf de top is fantastisch .

I visited this fort at least twice. It is like going back in time. If you can get out to Pate Island you have to see it. Literally, cannons are still lying about from hundreds of years ago. The keeper is a very nice gentleman that will take as long as you like telling you about the place. Ask him to climb into the turrets...but be careful. This is definitely not your average tourist place as it is very rustic and remote.
