‪No entrance fees but must pay for the rides (which is cheap at TWD20 for one ticket which allow 1 person to 1 ride).
Most of the rides are quite old but should be good enough for the younger kids (my 4 year old son enjoyed himself)
There is another operator in the park that operates the arcade games (which are quite run-down as well) and the Thomas the train ride. So must buy tokens from the operator and cannot use the tickets bought for the other rides
There is a science centre located at the top of the hill within the park. Entrance fees may be cheap but the exhibits are quite basic (total of 4 themes, one for each level). May not interest some kids who have been to more sophisticated science centers‬

‪This amusement park is in a more remote part of Taipei but a taxi was easy to get going and coming back. There are about 12-15 rides and the good thing is that there is no entrance fee; you just pay for the rides you want to go on. The negative part about that is that you are required to submit tickets (about 3-5 for each ride) and there is only one ticket booth. So if you have shlepped -with toddlers in tow- to one end of the park and realize you are short a ticket or two, you have to drag the kiddies all the way back to that booth to buy more. And in searing end-of-June, early July 100 degree heat, it's torture! However, the rides are nice for little kids, especially the dragon boats on water with the live koi swimming around. My kids, ages 3 and 2, really liked that one. There is a small ferris wheel, a teacup ride, a small, super-slow train ride, and other standard kiddie rides. There are also two small playgrounds (no tickets needed for these.) Overall, it is worth it if you have visited all the other attractions in Taipei and are dying to find something else to do with young kids. But my kids were almost fainting and I had to keep dousing them with ice water that I brought. (Advice: try to freeze bottles of water the night before going anywhere outdoors in the summer in Taiwan. It will take a few hours to fully melt but at least there is icy cold water to sip on for the next 3-4 hours.) Oh, and try to bring your own lunch. There is absolutely nothing good to eat within immediate walking distance around there.‬

‪It's not as fancy as Disneyland or Universal studio, but it has the necessary elements to entertain young children at reasonable prices.

From March 2014, they will be free entry and you just need to pay for attraction rides, 3D movies etc. Since it's managed by the City Hall, it's not expensive for the rides or 3D movies.

It's also to good place to go if you would like your children to experience some Chinese culture.‬

‪The Recreation Center, which is a government one, is consisted of 3 areas: "Folk Arts World", which is where kids learn about traditional Chinese way of living; "Science World", which is where the Science/ Space museum is; and "Amusement World", where you have the ferris wheel, spinning tea cups, train, and also the standard playground facilities. The place is quite old and obviously the playground is in need of update, but our 3-year old doesn't mind. The Amusement World may consist of things which can be seen almost 2 or 3 decades ago in where I come from, but they are still working and clean - and again our 3 year-old doesn't mind and love them, which really teaches us that what matters is kids can have fun, and that doesn't necessarily come with the latest technology. The best part is the Folk Arts World where they show traditional Chinese houses and furniture (and hence how they lived), and there are also performances and traditional Chinese playgames too. The Science/ Space Museum is quite old too (such as fascimile technology is one of the showcases, with video conference technology showing next to it!), but again our kid had fun in all the hands-on game.‬

‪While the Recreation Center houses different themed parks, we visited the Amusement World, where the rides were. We traveled the to Center by Taipei's MRT. A search in the Internet would reveal ways to get there. After hopping off the train, the walk to the entrance took about 10 minutes.

Entrance fee to the Center cost TWD30 per adult. It was a weekday morning, and there were very few people. Rides meant for young children were spaced out within the Amusement World's compound. There was also a children outdoor play area and a simple maze which toddlers would enjoy running about in. Older children and young adults would find the park boring. While there were a wide variety of rides, they were slow moving and very safe. A few snack shops in the park served up popcorn, ice-creams, drinks and the likes.

The rides were in working condition, but a noticeable few had lost their lustre. In one area of the attraction, technicians repairing broken rides doubled up as ride operators. The lack of crowd allowed us to wander around and try out the rides at a very leisurely pace. It felt a little odd - to be in a themed park that was quiet, but the benefits far outweighed the loss of a typical themed park atmosphere.‬
