aw the new musical "American Prophet", and it was AWESOME! It's a musical about Frederick Douglass' life with added calls to arms. The music had clear black gospel and blue/jazz roots that sounded great!
I loved the Arena Stage, the venue was very intimate, and all the staff and ushers were very kind. There is a mask and vaccination mandate for the shows as well.
The theatre is tells stories with DC flags and 51 state flags hanging to the store that sells many racial justice books. I was honored to see "American Prophet", and highly recommend people go see it.
I will say the intermission didn't seem long enough, and we did not have enough time to use the restrooms and get drinks before we had to go back in, but that's me nitpicking.

We went to see the Eduardo Machado's "Celia and Fidel," and had a wonderful evening. The play and acting were very good. Excellent and comfortable seats. Superior production quality and sound.
The Arena Stage is located near the Metro and Washington, DC's beautiful Wharf district. We prepaid parking at the Arena Stage, which opens at 6:00pm. So, we had two hours to eat a leisurely dinner and walk a bit along the Wharf.

It's a very nice theater with a super modern look and feel to it. The main theater has super comfortable seats and the sight lines are great from pretty much everywhere. No problem hearing the actors, even from the balcony. Lots of super friendly docents to help you find your seat and answer questions. We particularly liked the ability to stay after the play we saw (A Thousand Splendid Suns) to talk to a couple of the actors who took questions from the audience. The only downside was the garage there at the theater was full, but there was another garage only two blocks away, so it was ok.

Awesome theatre in the round! Easy to access via metro (Waterfront station or parking). Large ladies’ room for intermission. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Definitely recommend seeing shows there.

We were luck to see Newsies at Arena Stage last weekend - it was spectacular and a perfect balance to all the museums and monuments we saw during the day. I went with my 12 year old and his cousin and they were wowed. Exceptional choreography and outstanding performances - I can't recommend this enough if you are looking for quality live theatre. (And I consider myself a theatre snob!)

I’ve been to a few theatre events here. The venue is very nice and they put on very high quality productions. Seats are relatively comfortable. They have several stages, all well marked and easy to find. Staff and ushers are always helpful and courteous. I enjoy myself every time I go. Only down side is lack of parking. For evening performances I can’t make it home before the Metro shuts down so I have to drive and they don’t have a lot of parking available to the location. There are a few parking garages within about a 3 block walk, so that helps out.

Saw "Right to be Forgotten" and it was a great story/lesson on the hauntings of youthful indiscretions particularly in light of our modern media, "Jitney" is also worth seeing. August Wilson is one of our national treasure and this is another good story well told.

Went to see the play Jitney. It is a very nice venue and easy to see as well as hear the play. Valet parking is only $25 which is much less than it cost to Uber there. Next time, I will use valet.

I had a wonderful experience at area stage. We went early and had dinner before the show. You have several options for eating from a cafeteria to a sit down restaurant. The food was better than I expected. It doesn't matter where you sit, the view of the stage was good.

Areana Stage has parking under the building. Unfortunately, when I was there, you couldn't get in the garage more than an hour before the performance. Parking was $12. We went early so that we could have a lite lunch and a glass of wine. I was able to find a parking place right out front of Arena Stage on the street. If you are not going early, you should eb able to get in to the garage.
