‪Snowy mountains and gorgeous villages ‬

‪We were picked up at 9.15 am and travelled to a lovely monastery on the road to Picos. We were informed of the history of this place and the importance of it. All the way our tour guide was giving a lot of informations in Spanish and in English too.
After the monastery we arrived to Picos de Europa and we took the cable car up to the top of mountain. (ticket to the cable car bit included in the tour)
The views were outstanding and the weather was mild and no wind at all. Still quite a bit of snow up there. We even saw an eagle in the sky. There's a souvenir show, toilet and a small coffee shop up there. I think you can rent some ski/snow equipments there too, but we didn't have enough time and any kind of ski clothes to do so.
You have lots of time here to take photos and enjoy the views.
After going down back to the minibus we went to Potes. It is a lovely village, you will do hundreds of pictures here. The weather was amazing, we were wearing t-shirts in February.
We had some recommendations regarding restaurants. We discovered the village and bought some souvenirs and toys for the kids.
After our free time of around 2 hours the lady who I'm afraid I don't know her name, came to pick us up and gave us a walking tour. She showed us around Potes with lots of information and it was very enjoyable and knowledgeable.

After an amazing long day we were dropped of I can't remember exactly what time but after 6pm for sure.

If you don't want to rent a car and drive around, or just want more information of the area, or you want to improve your Spanish skills you should book this tour.

I wish I could name the tour guide by her name. Thank you very much for a lovely day. ‬

‪Fantástico. Hicimos las cuevas del soplao y Cabárceno con Jairo, nos encantaron ambas. De verdad si alguien duda que excursiones hacer estas dos son increíbles. Jairo es un crack, te va contando todo el camino curiosidades del entorno y del destino, además de una gran persona y un gran profesional. Nos vamos encantados de Cantabria gracias a Jairo y a la gente de Exploring Cantabria‬

‪Oh what an amazing tour !! Such a fantastic vibe the whole trip . If you don't book a trip with Gabriela you will miss an amazing time . She is very knowledgeable and can answer any question about the region .‬

‪Ha sido un gran y agradable descubrimiento encontrar esta empresa de visitas guiadas por Cantabria.
Con ellos, hicimos la siguientes excursiones:
-Picos de Europa y Potes
-Tour por Santander
-Santillana de mar y museo Altamira
-Cueva del Soplao
Un fuerte abrazo a Gabriela, Rafa y a Mercedes que nos han acompañado estos días.

‪Maravillosa experiencia en nuestra escapada a Cantabria. Tanto Rafa, como Gabriela, como Mercedes son estupendos profesionales, atentos y pendientes en todo momento de nosotros con un trato super cercano que te hace sentir como si los conocieras de toda la vida. Con ellos hicimos las excursiones de Picos y Potes, tour por Santander, Santillana de mar/cueva de Altamira y cueva del Soplao y en todas han estado fantásticos, adaptándose en todo momento a las inclemencias del tiempo y ofreciéndonos buenas alternativas al momento. Ha sido un placer compartir estos días con ellos. Empresa recomendable al 100% si vais a visitar esta zona.‬

‪Altamira Caves
Another UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Altamira Caves have the distinct privilege of being the worlds first discovery of Upper Paleolithic Rock Art from the period 35,000 – 11,000 BC. Unfortunately, the actual caves cannot be visited because of conservation reasons and have been sealed off. The amazing work of the Spanish authorities is ongoing. I was told maybe one day we can see the caves, but for now we will have to do with replica caves and accompanying reproduced art. Despite that, my visit was special. After viewing a short film about this significant stage in human history, you are ushered into the cave with minimal lighting. Even reproduced, the art shows distinct figures and animals as well as a display of tools and implements. These high-quality duplications still evoke a sense of wonder and awe at some of humankind’s earliest examples of accomplished art.‬

‪Very peaceful place‬

‪Garabandal has to be one of my favorite places. It's so peaceful and beautiful, and it's like stepping back in time. So much to take from this wonderful village. I highly recommend.‬
