Wanted to get to the Eagle’s nest so we took this ride as high as it would go. Then they told us to follow the path 30 minutes to the bus stop to board a bus for The Eagle’s Nest. We got off at the top to catch the bus. However, we got lost on the path trying to find the bus. Really lost. Like lost for 2 hours, lost. Finally got to the bus station and rode bus to the top of the mountain for lunch but then on our way back to the cable cars we got lost again. By the time we found the cable cars they were closed for the night. Sooo, make sure you understand the path to get to the bus stop if you’re going to the eagles nest, and watch your time. If you think you might miss the cable cars back, don’t pay for the ride ahead of time like we did.

Diese Seilbahn ist wirklich super für Familien. Sie ist nicht allzu groß und mit zwei Kindern füllt man hier eine ganze Gondel aus.

Leuk om met zo, n gondelbakje een keertje naar boven te gaan, maar voor € 13 pp te veel gevraagd! Je komt niet eens halverwege de Obersalzberg en kwa uitzicht tijdens de trip zie je niet echt veel vanwege de bomen, helaas! En eenmaal boven moet je toch nog flink klimmen en klauteren om iets leuks te kunnen zien en ondernemen! Ook was de mogelijkheid om het Eaglesnest te bezoeken er niet vanwege het aanleggen van een nieuwe weg maar dit stond beneden niet echt duidelijk aangegeven! Leuk dus, maar geen must!

This is a wonderful cable car that connects the town of Berchtesgaden with Obersalzberg. If you're staying in the Berchtesgaden area, the cable car station is easy to get to on foot. We bought round-trip tickets. The view going up is excellent and the ride is relaxing. Once at the top station, the walk to the Documentation Center and Eagle's Nest ticket booth is about 35 minutes on an easy gravel path with yellow signs pointing to Dokumentation and Obersalzbergbahn. There are also many other paths to follow if inclined... some of these paths will pass ruins of military buildings and some of these others may have more uphill/downhill segments than the main path. Pay attention to where you exit the main path at the Documentation Center parking lot, as you'll need to locate this path entrance when returning to the cable car.
We were the only persons for both trips on the cable car. I don't understand why it wasn't more popular. This is the ideal way to visit Obersalzberg... no need for a car or the bus, just fresh mountain air and a little exercise. Also, bring cash.

After visiting the Eagle’s Nest in the morning, we drove down 319 in our car and parked in the parking area on the left side of the bridge ( I am enclosing a photo) as you enter back in town. Walked across the street and bought tickets at the little office. You have the option of one way, return, or to include three rounds on the thrill ride. The kind man gave my grandson keys to a nearby restroom. Soon the 2 cabin cable car arrived, we were the only ones, and off we went. The attendant informed us that halfway up the cabins will stop and we will have to transfer to the cabins going to the top. No attendant at midpoint, but transferring is easy, plenty of time, you basically walk to the other side of concrete steps. There’s a person in a small cabin at the end, that can point you in the right direction. A restaurant 100m to the left via a narrow path (very slow service) or a thrill ride about 200m to the right along a downhill road - highly recommended. We returned via the cable car and enjoyed the ride down just as much.

ベルヒテスガーデンの市内とObersalzbergを結ぶロープウェイです。頂上まで行くと、近くにSommerrodelbahnという、ボブスレーに乗りに行くこともできます。余り利用客は多くないようです。

Got the bus to the salt mines from Salzburg, came across the bahn by accident while walking to Berchtesgaden from the salt mines. It was very quiet so we opted to give it a try. It was so beautiful up there I could have spent the whole day walking in the baverian hills. We paid for the luge ride with the ticket which was fun but it’s more for kids so I felt a bit stupid!
You can walk to the eagles nest from here but it’s a trek. We went to a traditional Bavarian restaurant at the top which was charming.
This was the highlight of my trip to Salzburg, just so beautiful, breathtaking. Then walked to Berchtesgaden for an ice cream and bus back to Salzburg. If you want to see Bavaria and dont want to crush into the lift at the eagles nest then this is still a great day trip.

Mit der Gästekarte ab der Salzbergalm für nur 2€. Personal sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Schneller Start.

Pick a dry day to use the Obersalzbergbahn as it is open to the elements. Very popular with walkers. There is also a summer rodelbahn at the top, as an alternative way down.
Built in 1949 it still retains it's original style. There is paid parking across the road and a walkway into the centre of the old Berchtesgaden

Wir haben auf dem angrenzenden Parkplatz parkiert und sind nach dem Kartenkauf an der Talstation sofort mit der nächsten Gondel nach oben gefahren (Achtung Barzahlung!). Wir sind dann nicht zum Kehlsteinhaus gelaufen, sondern nach wenigen Metern Fußmarsch im angrenzenden Restaurant bei der Rodelbahn eingekehrt. Nach Essen und Rodeln sind wir von dort aus bis zur Mittelstation gelaufen, dort wieder in die Bahn eingestiegen und bis zur Talstation gefahren. Alles problemlos! Es war eine kleine nette Wanderung, die auch von kleineren Kindern problemlos bewältigt werden konnte. Auf dem Weg zur Mittelstation kreuzt man den Weg der Seilbahn immer einmal wieder. Die Bahn an sich ist etwas älteren Datums und war für die Kinder ein Erlebnis!
