A very clean and welcoming market selling lots of great food including fruit and veg, meat, fish, pies, cheese plus cafe, coffee shop and street food counter. Other stalls both inside and outside sell books, plants, bric a brac, rugs, bags, shoes, clothes, cards, just about everything you need.

This review is purely about the open air market with its covered Victorian roof. It is simply 2 or 3 rows of tables selling second hand bits and bobs (DVDs) and such like. Its poor and can be avoided.

I love markets and was expecting so much more. A tad underwhelming to be honest but that's no criticism of the individual stallholders. I just expected a bigger place to be honest.

Absolute shambles doesn't know what it is how to destroy two things at once a once good market and a busy carboot gone replaced by a disheveled looking barn cold barren and small who allowed this to happen

Much prefer the market now to the depressing building it used to be in. Reasonable selection of stalls.

We called here when we were in the area as we used to go years ago. it was rather disappointing, a lot of the stall were very similar, and, unfortunately, as with a lot of markets these days, it was very quiet, makes you wonder how the poor traders survive and make a living.

We my wife and i went to see what had changed , We were glad they had NOT knocked down the outside market like they did with ours the indoor market has bean demolished a bit sad ,but it was looking a bit run down and times have changed sad but true . having said that we enjoyed our visit to Preston looking at all the shops and will be back overall a good day out ps we left the car at home and had a train ride instead great . hope this helps

Three million pounds spent on glassing in the old covered market only to fill it with the most disappointing range of stalls and a bad layout. Part of it is still an open air market with many empty stalls. The old fish market now consists of a few metal containers made into stalls called the Box market. The old indoor market is being demolished to be replaced by a cinema complex. This has reduced the market area by two thirds.
I used to go regularly to buy fruit, veg, meat and fabrics. Now there are 2 veg stalls and 1 butchers and no fabrics or haberdashery. There is a far better market in nearby Chorley with a huge choice of goods available.
