…whilst I don’t have an issue with bag checks the security should not be allowed to maul around your bag. I was also astonished and embarrassed to be asked to open my very small makeup bag that contained sanitary products. Surely this is taking it too far! For that reason, I am unsure if we will re-visit again in the future.

The production of Edward Scissorhands gets no stars. It was awful. We will get to that.
The theatre itself is nice and there's good leg space in the AA rows, where we were. The staff were pleasant enough but not so as to stand out compared to other theatres.
The show, however, is possibly the worst live event I have ever witnessed and it has me questioning how Matthew Bourne has got himself a "good" name. The dancing was out of sync in places and was pretty much the same dance moves but alternated a little for each "segment".
I found the lead actor to lack any of the charm, innocence and mystery as the film version - although following Depp's portrayal will always be a struggle and the costume looked cheap.
What the hell they have done to the story I do not know. The film version is nigh on perfect and didn't need to be "adapted" in the places they did so. The changes they made were just stupid (SPOILERS HERE): Edward is a little black boy who is playing with scissors in a storm when he is killed by lightening. His grieving father rebuilds him with spare body parts of some stranger to form the Edward we all know. But why not just use the electrocuted body to rebuild his son? I mean, if you're going to rewrite that - at least have it make sense. Perhaps if his son exploded on impact with only the brain left over it might have been believable?! But no, he was cradling the body so... I digress. Other parts rewritten included the death of Edward's father (old age before he could finish the hands, in the film) - here, he had a heart attack after trick or treaters broke into his mansion and spooked him to death... Given the dance routine for this was so lacklustre - you have to ask why it was done?! I'm sure they had their reasons.
The humour was mistimed, more crickets than laughter in the audience and the music was atrocious. It was like a college production with first grade musicians having a go. But, again, when following Danny Elfman..... Hard act to follow. So I guess they didn't even try?!
We left during the interval, and others did. Given this was over £100 a ticket - it was a massive, massive insult to the paying customer.

Just OK, it really struggled to hold my attention i found it quite tideous and lacking in standout moments. A lot of the dancing was very out of sync. Enjoyed the music. The couple next to me and the couple in front of me left during the interval, never to return. I didn't make it till the end of the show. Overall disappointed, usually saddlers Wells shows are outstanding.

As a first time visitor to Sadler’s Wells I was really impressed by the establishment and its staff.
From leaving Angel Underground station take a left, over the junction and it’s signposted to your right.
There were plenty of helpful staff, with bars and toilets on each floor.
Before the performance I sat at table seating in the foyer outside the entrance (I was on the top floor) and appreciated the calm atmosphere with screens showing adverts for other upcoming performances. We were not rushed to our seats, which we’re comfortable and had a decent amount of leg room.
Once the performance had finished there were no delays walking out, and I was back at the underground station in no time.
I will definitely consider another trip soon.

Fun blend of ballet with Tim Burton's unique style
I am not really a ballet person but enjoyed this experience. Wife and daughter both loved the performance

I was here to watch Edward Scissorhands. I was expecting a musical. What I got was a dance show, no singing or spoken words. Some of it was easy to follow, some was pointless and not connected to the film at all. The venue itself was very nice, there was a beautiful Christmas tree, and a few seating areas before going into be seated for the show. I had an end of aisle seat, and thought it would spoil my view. It did not, and could see the full stage, and performance clearly.

This beautiful performance captures so much of the dream-like emotion of the film. It adds a quirky, self aware humor that actually adds to one of the most unique films. The performers were amazing, expressive dancers. A wonderful night at the theater for me and my teenage daughter.
Must agree w other posts that ads, etc aren’t clear that it’s a dance performance. We expected a “musical,” were thrilled with what we saw but I can understand disappointment if you came for song and dialogue.

Purchased for a nice Birthday present. Fairly not understood what it was as I thought it was a musical theatrical play. However it was more of a ballet dance which wasn't very interested, not just for personal choice but it lacked passion. The story was different to the film itself. Gave me anxiety with pointless dances that did not suit the story. Pretty boring unless you're 80.

We had a wonderful time as a large group of dance friends from Smikle Studio in Hove, watching the brilliant Sara Baras Flamenco show, preceded by dinner at The Gate across the road. An easy journey from Brighton to Farringdon and lovely little stroll to Angel. Can't wait for another visit to see Sir Matthew Bourne or Jasmin Vardimon's latest productions too!

Sorry, have never sat near the front so cannot comment.
How restricted are the Second Circle 3 Restricted View - bar stools seats. They are on the side.

There is parking just up the road and around the corner, you can drop of your disabled person and then go and park also I believe that it might only be single yellow line outside the theatre so if you have a blue badge, no problem. I was on crutches when I went the other day and my friend parked about a two minute walk. Turn right out of the front door and then take the first on the left there is free parking on the left hand side of the road. Hope this helps and have fun

Crown Plaza at Kings X is about £100 and good value for what it is but Travelodge is clean and adequate at £49.
They are equidistant.
Have a fun trip!

Looking to book in December for a family treat . Could anybody advise on seating in this theatre please. On booking the back seats on the first circle , says there's a restriction on height . What does this mean ? ......confused ? ....

I have to say the best seats we have found are in the Upper Circle row B or C. The view is excellent, especially from the middle seats, and the prices less - so you can go more often.

We made the mistake of booking tickets at the sides and didn't realise that you had to be over 16 to use them as the seats are bar stools on the 1st or 2nd tier. We only realised when we got there but was able to change them.... the box office said that there is an alert which pops up on the website when buying but I didn't notice. So watch out for that!!
