Afternoon tea in the library with a perfect view of the Houses of Parliament. Not rushed at all, traditional fare and expertly served with a great selection of teas.

Beautifully central hotel with amazing views.
Fabulously, sympathetically restored building which certainly makes you feel like you are in “olde England”.
We were surprised/disappointed to find no staff on arrival & therefore we had to struggle up a set of stairs with very heavy luggage. Asides from this, all staff we encountered were friendly & helpful. Particular credit to Khatuna who was very attentive, warm & professional welcoming us each morning at breakfast.

It’s the perfect stay for a trip to London. Very central and close to Westminster, Big Ben, Houses of Parliament & several Tube stations.
The food is more than delicious and fresh and the service is super fast & courteous. The breakfast was delightful as well. We wanna thank Kathuna & Sandra especially 🤩. You guys were amazing, nice and pretty warm-hearted 🥰. Thanks, you made our trip even more memorable. We are excited to come back one day 🤩.

County Hall used to be the headquarters of the Greater London Council but this was disbanded in the 1980's.
If you are on the North side of the River Thames you can get some nice views of County Hall next to the London Eye. It's worth going over Westminster Bridge to the Hall. You can visit the hotel and the Sealife Centre.

The County Hall is located on the banks of the River Thames near well-known and famous tourist attractions. The imposing building has an architecture that steals looks.

We visit County Hall for afternoon tea and cocktails before seeing Witness for the Prosecution - an Agatha Christie Crime Thriller in the theatre within County Hall. This play is a must see and fantastic - well cast, atmospheric location as performed within one of the meeting rooms which have remained intact since the old GLC days. Afternoon tea was good, and generous with great views overlooking the Thames. Cocktails were on the pricey side, but again well made and very strong, with stunning views over the river. A treat.

What a fantastic building with incredible architecture .
So much to look at and well worth a visit to see the inside the building without the added bonus of a play to watch.
Friendly and helpful staff.
We went to see Witness for the Prosecution which was staged in the old council chamber , fantastic large leather seats with a front row view of the stage!
Fantastic production with great acting , one of the best things we have seen this year.

My wife and I had been in London for a few days with our family. They then went home and as we were staying at the Premier Inn at County Hall my wife and I decided to go (literally) next door where there was a live performance of Agatha Christie’s Witness for the Prosecution. What a great night out! The show is in the actual courtroom of County Hall and the performances were all superb. Our seats (proper comfortable) were at the edge of the stage so we probably had the best view in the room. Brilliant, highly recommended.

Two empty-nesters in our fifties, traveling for the first time without the children. My husband had never been overseas before and I'd been...35 years ago? (I can still smoke on the flight right? Har har.)
Pre-bought: Oyster Cards, Historic Royal Palaces Membership, Westminster Abbey tickets
Pre-booked: Tickets to Churchill War Rooms, dinner reservation at The George, Tower of London time slot.
Sunday 3.24: Dulles International to Heathrow. 7:40 flight - British Airways. Service was excellent. Arrived early due to tailwinds.
Day One - Monday 3.25: Arrived Heathrow. Used Oyster cards to travel from Heathrow, Piccadilly line, to Jubilee line. Exited Waterloo. Headed to Premier Inn, County Hall (under the Eye) to drop off our bags. Beautiful day to stay awake! : ) We did a jumble of things this day just to get our bearings and to stay awake.
*Walked South Bank which was quiet at this hour with runners and dogwalkers.
*Gazed across the river in disbelief at Big Ben and Parliament.
*Got coffee and a snack at Pret a Manger which became our go-to place (We are not big foodies) and sat by the Thames
*Watched the mudlarkers
*Walked past the Tate Modern, caught a glimpse of the Globe Theatre
*Crossed the Millennium Bridge
*Purchased tickets for St. Paul's Cathedral and wandered the main floor. (Also City of London Information Centre is located across the street if you like paper maps)
*Walked along Fleet Street (which I loved because I'm a big fan of Law & Order: UK), read the plaque at Ye Old Cheshire Cheese, and took a rest outside of St. Clement Danes Church which was closed to the public but we saw a lot of musicians going in and out with their cases.
*Headed back to the hotel across the Jubilee Bridge for an early check-in. Laid down but did not nap.
*Left refreshed and headed through Graffiti Tunnel to Lower Market, which is a cute area with shops and food stalls. Not crowded.
*Fruitless search for a Marks & Spencer then back to hotel.
*For dinner we walked across Jubilee Bridge just in time for a protest by British farmers. Their festooned tractors slowly moving down Embankment snarled traffic, but it was very moving knowing the history of British farmers esp. during WWII.
*Ate at The Admiralty, Trafalgar.
*Walked back to hotel and fell into a deep sleep.
Steps: 27,000
Day Two - Tuesday, 3.26
Hotel breakfast
*Walked to Natural History Museum around 9:30. Long queue and I didn't realize you needed free but timed tickets. In line, reserved tickets for 12:30 and then headed over to the Victoria & Albert Museum. No timed tickets needed and we walked right in. Took a 50 minute free tour by a docent highlighting about ten of the must-sees. Highly recommend the tour to make the museum more manageable.
*Back to NHM, bypassed a long queue. Museum was bursting at the seams. Took a quick pass through dinosaurs and gems and then departed.
*Took an absolutely lovely walk through Kensington Gardens. Paused at a coffee kiosk for a snack.
*Oxford Street - certainly not our favorite area but we had two missions. 1) sneakers at Foot Locker (see my post-trip Deep Thoughts) 2) a walking cane for my son at James Smith & Sons Umbrellas. Both made Oxford Street worth the chaos!
*Hotel for a rest then dinner at The Sherlock Holmes Pub, upstairs in the dining room. For some reason they ran out of food, so while it wasn't a bad experience it was definitely a quirky and odd experience. Except for one couple who left, the rest of the diners had a good sense of humor about it.
Steps: 25,000
Day Three - Wednesday, 3.27
*Walked to Churchill War Rooms. Fascinating. Will be watching Mincemeat and/or The Finest Hour again to see what I can recognize!
*Walked over to Westminster Abbey. Had tickets in advance, including the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Galleries. This was like being in the Abbey's "attic" with bird's eye views of gargoyles and other carved characters. I thought it was well worth the additional ticket.
*Lovely, lovely walk through St. James Park
*Stopped by Buckingham Palace and peered through the gates.
*Hotel rest
*Tube to/from dinner at The George. Was seated in pub area instead of dining rooms, but worked out because it was nice to eat among residents stopping by after work and hearing them chat with friends about daily life.
Steps: 23,000 (see a pattern here?)
Day Four - Thursday, 3.28
*Walked to Tower of London (Top tip: do Crown Jewels first thing when you get there, otherwise the line gets really long)
*Borough Market - very crowded obvs. My husband had a salted beef sandwich and I had an onion and cheese pasty.
*Back to hotel for a rest then a sudden decision to go to the Imperial War Museum. Fascinating.
*Last minute decision to go see Agatha Christie's Witness for the Prosecution which was playing literally next door to our hotel entrance. My husband took a hard pass and went to a pub. The play and venue were perfection. I was in the nosebleed section. Seats were rather pew-like. Some obstructed views, but highly recommend.
*I'm sure I was in bed before some of the theatre goers had gotten Ubers!
Steps: 20,000
Day Five: Friday, 3.29
*Hotel breakfast, then checked out and stored luggage.
*Walked to National Portrait Gallery were we had free, timed tickets. Zero line (as opposed to the National Gallery of Art on the opposite side that had a very long line). I loved this museum. My husband thought it was okay. ; )
*Walked back to the hotel and gathered our luggage. Took the tube to Sofitel Hotel at Heathrow Terminal 5, arrived about 4:00.
*Relaxed and had dinner.
Steps: 14,000
Day Six, Saturday 3/30
*11:40 flight back to Dulles. Smooth flight. Watched a documentary on Agatha Christie. The kept us well fed on the plane!
Steps: 6,000 (LOL)
In conclusion!
I do not need to tell people with physical limitations what they don't already know, but although there are lifts and escalators, there are a lot of steps and funky entrances as well. It would be well worth your time to seek out in advance ways in which venues (and the Tube) can provide accommodations.
Sneakers. I was so obsessed with not looking like a tourist (as if my accent and clueless wandering didn't give it away) that I did not bring my most comfortable shoes: low cut Converse sneakers. Remember how on day 2 I went to Foot Locker on Oxford Street? Guess what I bought? Wore them the rest of the trip except for the play. If your most comfortable shoes are the sneakers, bring the sneakers.
Best splurge: Coat Check. We checked our coats and/or sweatshirts/umbrella at every venue that had the option. Made such a difference in our enjoyment of the venue.
All in all, for two novices we had an absolutely splendid time.
I welcome any questions.

What restaurants would you recommend for a good lunch and accessible for wheelchair on Belvedere Road, London SE1 7PB, England(County Hall)?

Hi. Are the gallery seats also worth purchasing for Witness for the Prosecution or is it not as enjoyable up there? Thank you

They are ok, but you would get a better view and feel more involved in the seats in the seats nearer the action. Great play though, really enjoyed it
