With my children I visited Amerongen Castle (and gardens), where we got a tour from Joop Muller who knew how to tell very interestingly about the history of the castle and its inhabitants. He also involved the children. Meanwhile, the youngest was still answering questions from the puzzle tour. A very nice and interesting afternoon, we enjoyed it!

Beautiful castle with interior, which you can only pass through with a guide. There are different types of 1-hour tours, where different rooms are visited or not. And sometimes a themed tour of 1.5 hours. We had an extremely enthusiastic and well-informed guide, but that was also a bit of a problem at the same time: too extensive about things that are not interesting for the average visitor (pedigrees...). As a result, there was too little time at the end and we heard little about that interesting kitchen, that beautiful horse-drawn sleigh and that attic. Perhaps a themed tour about the staff and their work and living conditions could be organized? Such a thing is rarely found in a castle tour.
Around the castle a beautiful garden for walking.
Furthermore, there is a lot of catering on the castle grounds: a good restaurant in the former stables with beautiful terrace. A much simpler Gatehouse Burgers (temporarily closed) and some tables for coffee in the in the gardener's shed next to the gate where the tickets are also sold.

Perhaps the most special castle visit ever.
A nicely situated with gardens surrounded, castle.
And what's so special are the volunteers.
Their passion, their stories and dedication to this Dutch heritage, make a visit more than worthwhile.
The stables, now a restaurant, is also well worth a visit.

What a nice castle to visit. It is in a beautiful setting, the castle looks beautiful. A very welcoming welcome at the castle by an enthusiastic host who knew a lot of information. On weekends there is a Guide present in a room who give an explanation and answer questions.

What a surprising castle. Remained original for centuries and therefore a lot of history. Add to that an excellent Guide and a fine restaurant (Liz Resto): top.

Beautiful surroundings and beautiful castle. Nice trip also with young children. The treasure hunt was very nice and the castle is beautifully decorated!

We sat here on the terrace for tea and coffee and something to eat. This was good and with a view of the beautiful garden, which we walked through later.

Last Sunday we were going to visit Amerongen Castle with two couples. The week before I had bought tickets for 4 people. Unfortunately, one of our friends got sick and we decided not to go, partly because we are two couples. I tried at the castle to see if we could rebook the tickets to a later date, but unfortunately they did not want to cooperate. The tip they gave was either to give the tickets to someone else or to come as a group. It is a great pity that there was not more flexibility from Amerongen Castle.

a visit to this castle is definitely worth it, we received a lively tour and also visited the gardens and vegetable garden.

Vandaag dit kasteel bezocht en de tuinen. Kasteel is erg donker van binnen de gids die we hadden was erg oud en wist de weg in het kasteel zelf niet zo goed te vinden en was erg slecht te verstaan en vertelde eigenlijk precies het zelfde als wat in het filmpje te zien en te horen was!

Kann man auch außerhalb der Öffnungszeiten das Schloss von außen anschauen inklusive den Garten?
