Volgens ons nog recentelijk gerestaureerd. Schittert in de zon. Wel weinig volk als wij er waren. Het aanbod binnen was ook niet van Waauuuw ! Het zicht vanop het dakterras was dan weer de moeite waard

Palazzo storico e molto originale da visitare, all interno pezzi di storia che raccontano un passato lontano! Casa Museo che consiglio di vedere come patrimonio della città di Makele!

Denne positive oplevelsen kan man gjerne ta med seg fra Mekelle. Dette var keiser Johannes sitt slott fra 1800 tallet. Han huskes som en god keiser for folket.

If you are in Mekele I highly recommend you to visit this place. The way it's constructed and everything about it is just remarkable. There's a person who will guide you throughout your so he tells you well about the history which makes it more awesome.

Ethiopia has a fascinating history and this museum includes some excellent artifacts from the 19th reign of Yohannes IV, who defeated an Egyptian invasion of his country.

This museum focuses on the rule of Emperor Yohannes and is inside his renovated palace. It is done simply but nicely - with many good explanations of the history of his rule.

Very nice palace of Yohannes IV, Emperor of Ethiopia from 1871 through his death in battle in 1889. The grounds and two buildings were open at the time of my visit and photos were allowed except in a couple of specified locations. I was interested in this place because the aftermath of the death of Yohannes IV and family drama set the stage for the eventual ascension of Haile Selassie to the throne of Ethiopia.

A small museum full of gifts to the Emperor. Well restored with original wood floors and ceiling. Not a palace in western sense but quite small. A guide is well worth it and ours was very informative. Seemed quieter earlier on and got busy with tours later which, with size, made things little difficult. Unlike other reviewers no problem taking pictures outside or from roof and guide took some for us. Understandably flash photography can damage exhibits so perfectly understand why no photos inside. Closed 2 to 4 p.m. . well worth 1 to 2 hours visit.

The extensively UNESCO-renovated buildings contain interesting artifacts used by or given to the Emperor. The thrown is particularly interesting. Make sure you find the guide, who will walk you thorough and explain the exhibits. Closed between 12:00 and 14:00, when the guard will (as noted by another reviewer) just say "no." You will be required to leave an ID card of some sort upon entry into the compound, which will be kept with zero security. Bring a drivers license or similar so you need not leave a passport.

Would THE Emperor Yohannes IV Palace be open from 10 september 2016. Planning to be there then.

I do not know if the authorities would open the gates of the museum in September. From the outside, the palace looked fine and nobody was working inside the building when I was there at the end of March. There is a big sign outside the driveway with museum hours. Good luck.
