The Powdermaar is probably the most famous but in my opinion not the most beautiful. There are nicer ways to walk around the outside at other maare.
Maybe it is nicer in summer as an outdoor pool but now in autumn you don't have to go.

Hard to believe :
Today we were guests with two families, one with two children of pubescent age and we with a thirteenth year old daughter and a two year old son.
After the entrance left after the toilets, we prepared our camp right after opening the bath. Visibly there was a blanket over the bench. Then we took enough distance from an unknown guest, whom we only suspected due to his blanket.
After a swim in the lake, my wife, moved to tears, expected me that our son (two years) had entered our neighbor's ceiling without permission. He then loudly asked our son (two years) not to enter his ceiling.
For information: Our son just wanted to run a ball behind.
Upon address, the guest reacts very angrily with xenophobic swear words.
Just FYI, I am German and my wife is Russia German, with permanent job in nursing (24 years in Germany!!)
After such an insult, a lot of it is very difficult for me to remain objective. But several attempts to seek a conversation were answered unsightly with always the same xenophobic words.
After the DLRG became aware of our dispute, they had a de-escalating effect on us. At this point I would like to mention that the nice gentleman from the DRLG calmly and contemplatively tried to de-escalate the situation. His reaction, led me to suspect that our nice guest, known for his foreigner's unfriendly behavior, is.
To describe the situation again: A little kid running after a ball, across a stranger's ceiling. The stranger laments this and receives an apology from the child. He did not accept the apology, but loudly affirms his xenophobic remarks.
I would like to commend the discussions with the DLRG again. I am glad that there are such well-educated people who have to deal with such a situation in their volunteer work.
To all who read this: The first bank after the entrance to the left after the toilets, is regularly visited by “our described guest”.
Not that this was enough, the “guest” followed us to the car, and filmed us leaving.
I can only advise all “non-German, or families with small children” not to settle in the place described.
Please don't get us wrong, because a visit to Pulvermaar is always worth it. We will not be influenced by such people. After all, history should have taught us something better.

Beautiful views of the water and the surrounding hills. Relaxing walks in nature. The campsite is also beautifully situated.

Waren am Fronleichnam auf dem Campingplatz am Pulvermaar und haben 4 erholsame Tage verbracht. Schöne Gegend! Zugang zum Wasser ist leider kaum vorhanden, außer am Freibad. Rundweg ca.2,5 km, kristallklares Wasser. Campingplatz ist fest in der Hand der Dauercamper, sogar mit Betonpfosten in der Einfahrt. Parzellen sehr klein, Warschaus etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Gastronomie vorhanden, sehr fleischlastig.

Man kann das Pulvermaar wunderbar umrunden. Gebadet haben wir nicht. Im Oktober sind wir nur spazieren gegangen. In der Herbstsonne ein wunderschönes Panorama!

Arrival:
Visited during the week, late August (~30°C) around 5pm (its open till 7pm) The lake is easy to reach by car, its well signed. The car park was 3/4 complete.
The lake area:
So to enter the lake/beach/pool area you have to pay 5€ (reasonable price). Inside the facility you have access to changing rooms, toilets, showers, a swimming pool, a beach/lawn, a kids pool & play area, a small water slide into the lake and a floating platform with jumping boards (1m and 3m). You can also rent out a rowing boat. There is also a snack bar where you can order small snacks (Fritten, Currywurst etc) and Erdinger beer/softdrinks.
Conclusion/personal opinion:
Its very beautiful volcano lake. The entrance fee area is well equipped, pretty clean and is perfect for families. Long chairs were missing though. The water slide and jumping boards offer nice fun for teens and young adults. The water wasnt cold at all and was nice to swim. There is also a lifeguard monitoring the area.
For a normal weekday after school holidays, I thought it wasn't that quiet, I can imagine it'll be very crowded in July.
I'd return for sure, but its a 1h30min drive from Luxembourg.

Bisher kannte ich mir das ganz normale Schwimmbad. Mare sind in meiner Heimat nicht bekannt und es war eine ganz neue Erfahrung.
Es war super schön und auch erfrischend. Außerdem war der Gesteinsboden total weich und angenehm.
Würde auf jeden Fall wieder kommen ;)

Direkt nach dem Frühstück ums Pulvermaar. Sehr schön zu gehen und ganz ruhig. Fix waren schon einmal rum. Sollte man auf jeden Fall einmal rumgehen

Gestern einen Ausflug zur Holzmaar und zur Pulvermaar gemacht, tolle Wanderung um die Maare bei super Wetter, der Hunger trieb uns zum Campingplatz an der Pulvermaar Koordinaten: N50°08.050 E 06°55.398 Der Campingplatz ist mit Imbiss und Terasse direkt an der Pulvermaar super gelegen, Parkplatz unten in unmittelbarer Nähe. Vorab: alle Corona-Regeln wurden strikt eingehalten und da wir genau zur richtigen Zeit da waren (Essen gab es ab 17:00Uhr, Kaffe und Getränke schon vorher) Die Bedienung superfreundlich, unser Essen und Trinken kam recht schnell und hat auch lecker geschmeckt.. und absolut preiswert. Wir kommen garantiert wieder
