We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this interesting little insight into history. After a short walk up the hill, you arrive at the site which runs guided tours every 20 mins or so. The guides are very knowledgeable and after an introduction to the guns you commence a very well run self guided tour of the tunnels. The whole experience takes about an hour. Would definitely recommend a visit if you are looking for something different to do on a Sunday.

We had an afternoon free and decided to check out the WW2 tunnels. There’s a guided part around the artillery on the hill and then a self-guided tour through the tunnels, both paint a really interesting picture of active war-time in Australia. Tours go every 20 minutes and it was nice to see quite a few other people there, although it was just me and my sister in our tour group. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and happy to answer our questions. It was a hot day, so appreciated being able to get a cold drink at the site. Nice and cool in the tunnels though! All in all, highly recommend.

Informative and engaging for adults and kids. I have boys aged 8-12 and they all enjoyed themselves. Went in with low expectations and left with a high appreciation for the preservation of our history. Guides are doing a fabulous job.

They are only open from 1000-1500 on a Sunday. We arrived around 1500 so would have just missed the last tour. We did walk around the area to look at the guns and the amazing view from the top.
The carpark isn't very big and the walk up to the battery is actually quite an uphill battle. Once you get to the top, follow the arrows to the command post where they start the tours. the place also has some quite interesting items inside like the maps and images of boats.
We were told that the tour costs $10 for an adult and $4 for a child and lasts about an hour. You get to go into the tunnels which would be an experience. Something to try for my next visit and possibly update the rating.

I would really recommend this tour. It cost us $8 dollars each, and I can honestly say it was the best attraction we visited during our time over here. Our volunteer tour guide was very knowledgeable and interesting in the way he conducted the tour. The leaflet and website don't really do the actual visit justice. We did it really just for a tourist thing to do, but left feeling entertained and also educated in many things about what happened there during the war. Thank you our tour guide.

What started as an informative tour, turned out to be an awful experience for a young teen who was on his way out of the tunnels for some fresh air.
My family witnessed a volunteer tour guide named SUE attack a young boy, with an audience of over 20 people. This child had done nothing wrong, and was immediately set upon with full force. He could not speak once the attack had ceased, he could not even nod, he was visibly terrified. The tour guide then berated him with "can you not talk! Answer me! What is wrong with you? Stand over there! Don't move!" finishing by laughing and rolling her eyes. He hid around the corner, clearly anxious and very distressed, not knowing why he had been confronted by an adult in such an awful manner.
Sue resumed her informative speech, only to spot him clearly upset, by which she responded with humiliating him AGAIN, in front of this large group of strangers, stating "why are you so upset? I should be upset dealing with people like you!" and once again laughing.
I am disgusted by what I have observed today. If that child had of not been separated from his parents, I highly doubt this bully would have attacked him in the fashion she did. He was humiliated in front of a crowd of 20+ strangers for trying to leave the tunnels, of which he clearly wasn't comfortable being in. No adult should bully and humiliate a child like this. If I heard someone speak to my children like this I would throttle them. This is blatant disrespect. Volunteer or not, nothing gives you the self-appointed right to attack someone, clearly observe they are unable to defend themselves, and then use this to your advantage to humiliate them further. Horrendous. This woman SHOULD NOT be in contact with children, period.

Lead by our volunteer guide Peter, he explained the different guns, their placement, down thru the tunnels & how they were used. 1hr long. A lot of stairs down into tunnels, no walking sticks allowed, just the handrail. Carpark to where tour starts is up to 5mins uphill along a wide concrete path.

This was a wonderful tour of a very historic site. Set up during the early parts of WW2, this gun battery was designed to defend Perth in case of attack from the Japanese. The battery comprises a series of tunnels linking the main gun emplacements. The tour is very informative and the (volunteer) guide that we had had a very detailed knowledge of the site and a quirky sense of humour. There are a number of sets of narrow stairs to negotiate but we didn't find them all that difficult and nor did our 9 and 7 year old granddaughters that we had with us. In addition, some awesome views up and down the coast and out over the Indian Ocean. A must visit site!

Fantastic for anyone who loves their history - we were lucky to come across it as we had family in the area. Great to see the original tunnels of the battery and how they would have worked during war time. A good informative tour by clearly passionate volunteers. It's a shame it's only open one day a week, but I can understand why!

I doubt it unless you leave it in the car.
